Mountaineering Ireland is the National Governing Body for hillwalking and climbing on the island of Ireland. Mountaineering Ireland's role is to represent the interests of hillwalkers and climbers and to advocate for Ireland's mountains. 

Our work includes:

  • Promoting responsible participation in hillwalking and climbing.
  • Improving access and protecting the mountain and cliff environment.
  • Encouraging skills development and training.
  • Supporting hillwalking and climbing clubs.
  • Hosting climbing competitions and developing high-performance climbing.
  • Influencing the policies that affect our activities.
