05 December 2023

After seven and a half years as Chief Executive Officer of Mountaineering Ireland, Murrough McDonagh has decided to move on to pursue a new career opportunity.

The board of directors are very grateful to Murrough for all his work over the years and wish him every success in the future.

Speaking about Murrough’s departure, David Pollard, chairperson of the board of directors, stated “As a board and on behalf of the staff team in Mountaineering Ireland, I want to wish Murrough all the very best in his future and I want to thank him for his service and support to Mountaineering Ireland over the years. Murrough will be missed in the organisation, but we understand that he wants to pursue new opportunities, and we wish him continued success.”

Murrough McDonagh added “It’s been a privilege and honour to work alongside some amazing people in Mountaineering Ireland, from the staff team, the board of directors, the sub-committee and our volunteers in clubs and our members. Since 2016, there has been considerable positive change within Mountaineering Ireland, and it’s in a much stronger position now, moving into a new year in 2024. I’m extremely proud to have been a part of this development and progress and to have been in a position to lead this change. I wish nothing but continued success to Mountaineering Ireland in the future.
