Title:  New Staff Member Appointment - Youth Development Officer Northern Ireland

Mountaineering Ireland have recently employed Kevin Kilroy as the Youth Development Officer for Northern Ireland. The position is funded for four years through Sport Northern Ireland’s Sporting Clubs Investment Programme 2017 – 2021. Kevin’s role is to support and develop youth climbing clubs around Northern Ireland.

Kevin is originally from Muff, Co. Donegal and is a keen climber with twelve years experience. Kevin is passionate about all aspects of climbing from indoor bouldering competitions to long adventurous traditional climbs. Kevin holds the Mountaineering Instructor Award and has worked for several years as a self-employed outdoor instructor with a focus on climbing instruction and coaching, indoor wall route setting as well as outdoor instruction across a range of other outdoor sports.


Kevin will be based at the Mountaineering Ireland office in the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre and travel extensively around Northern Ireland to fulfill his role. Kevin is looking forward to the challenges of the new role and hopes that his enthusiasm for climbing, alongside his personal experience with clubs and mountaineering qualifications will be of good help to Youth Climbing Clubs in Northern Ireland.
