Title:  Proposal for the establishment of the Mountain Training Board of Ireland
Date:  10/03/2017

The Board of Mountaineering Ireland has approved an important report regarding the establishment of a new mountain training body to serve the island of Ireland.

The report sets out the terms of reference and membership of the new body, a new prospectus for the Mountain Leader Award, a Provider approval process, a new facility to enable Providers or groups of Providers to be recognised as Accredited Training Organisations and a Candidate Management System linked to Mountain Training UK.

The Board believes that the proposals will lead to a better governance structure for mountain training in Ireland, more training opportunities for candidates, increased networking opportunities for trainers and improvements in quality assurance.
