Mountaineering Ireland's draft vision for the future of Ireland's mountains and upland areas

Mountaineering Ireland’s mission statement (below) commits the organisation to being a voice for Ireland’s mountain areas:

Mountaineering Ireland exists to represent and support the walkers and climbers of Ireland and to be a voice for the sustainable use of Ireland’s mountains and hills and all the places (coastline, crags, forests) we use.

To enable Mountaineering Ireland to engage effectively with other organisations and to make a case for Ireland’s mountains it is essential that Mountaineering Ireland first be clear on what its own future vision is for these areas.

Following input from members through a series of regional consultation meetings in October/ November 2016, Mountaineering has just published its draft vision for the future of Ireland's mountains and upland areas.

Draft vision statement

All Mountaineering Ireland members are urged to read the draft vision and provide feedback either before Mountaineering Ireland’s Spring Gathering, or during the Members’ Forum in Kilkenny on Saturday evening 4th March where the document will be discussed.

The Spring Gathering is open to all Mountaineering Ireland members, for programme and booking information see Spring Gathering
