Title:  Car break-ins at Luke’s Bridge, Co. Sligo
Date:  21/11/2017

Over the past three-four months, there has been a spate of car break-ins in the Luke’s Bridge area of Sligo. Luke’s Bridge is the starting point for access to Benbulben and Benwisken, and is also used for general access to the Darty Plateau. It is quite an isolated spot, therefore providing ample time and opportunity for would-be thieves to stake out potential targets.

As an example, two cars were targeted on Saturday, September 30th, 2017, with both having windows smashed and items stolen. Gardai were notified and have also been notified of previous incidents. Sligo Mountaineering Club have asked Gardai to put surveillance in place but to date, this has not happened.

Sligo Mountaineering Club would like to alert all members of Mountaineering Ireland to the potential risks of parking at Luke’s Bridge, grid reference G698 473.'
