Title:  Scottish International Winter Climbing Meet 2020- Federation nominations now open!

The 2020 Mountaineering Scotland International Winter Climbing Meet will take place from 22nd to 29th February 2020.


Our federation has been invited to nominate two (one female and one male) experienced winter climbers from Ireland to take part. Preference will be given to climbers who have not attended an International Meet before.


The event will begin in Aviemore, where guests and hosts will meet at the Aviemore Youth Hostel before heading off to some of the best known climbing huts in Scotland over the course of the week. As part of the experience all participants are guaranteed at stay at the famous CIC hut at the base of Ben Nevis, as well as other huts located in Glencoe and the Cairngorms. The meet will conclude back in Aviemore with an evening social event and an opportunity for guests and hosts to reflect on what we are sure will have been a truly memorable experience.Please note that if the meet is oversubscribed, places will be reduced to one per country.

How to apply

  • Please read the Information for guests  and submit an application demonstrating in your own words how you meet the experience requirements listed to Jane Carney on by Friday the 8th November 2019.
  • Mountaineering Scotland will email all Federations that have applied by 6 December 2019 to inform them of the outcome.
  • Please do not make any bookings (flights, trains etc) until you have had confirmation from Mountaineering Scotland.
