Title:  Avalanche in the Irish Hills
Date:  22/01/2018

Think you won’t get Avalanched in the Irish hills? Think again.

Our thanks to Aaron Cassells for sending in these photos of a full depth Avalanche on the East side of Spelhoagh Mountain in the Sperrin’s. (Grid H709 979) Aaron describes some of the blocks in the Debris as “Car sized”. If you were caught and buried in an Avalanche if this scale the chances of survival would be low.

Mountaineering Ireland would remind all members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge before venturing into the Mountains in Winter conditions.

The Mountaineering Ireland Winter Meet is a great opportunity to develop your skills for winter conditions, this year's event is in Inchree, Onich, Scotland from the 11th - 17th February 2018. Click here for full details.
