These online meetings will be delivered by Ruth Whelan - Hillwalking Development and Club Officer, and Michael Duffy - Climbing Development Officer and will run over a number of weeks in October and November. The series will cover all key areas of club governance, leadership, and operations, ensuring that committee members are well-prepared for their roles.
Here is a breakdown of this year's schedule:
Club Committee Roles - /Running your AGM -
This Workshop will clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each committee member, ensuring that all members understand their specific duties, the importance of teamwork, and how to collaborate for the club's success. We will also discuss the importance of a shared and open culture within clubs. The second part of the workshop will aim to provide practical training on organising and running an AGM, ensuring it is effective, transparent, and follows the club’s constitution.
All you need to know about Club Admin
This workshop will provide an overview of how our membership system works. We will be joined by Siobhan Quinn (Administrator) to answer any questions you might have on the system and to discuss any changes and updates to our system including the rollout of our digital membership cards. We will also look at the wide variety of resources available in our club toolkit and provide key information on GDPR and protecting club data.
Running Club Activities, Trips and Events
This workshop aims to equip club committee members and leaders with the necessary skills to effectively lead groups, assess risks, manage insurance requirements, and successfully organise and run club activities, trips and events. Participants will leave with a strong understanding of safety, planning, and leadership in club activities.
When things Go Wrong In Clubs
This workshop prepares club committee members to handle unexpected problems, crises, and conflicts that can arise during club events, meetings, and activities. We will discuss different scenarios and will provide tools and procedures to respond calmly and effectively to challenges including our new code of conduct template and club complaints procedures.
Club Committees - Ask Us Anything?
This interactive, open-ended workshop will be a supportive space where club committee members can ask questions of Mountaineering Ireland staff on any aspect of club management, operations, and leadership or any other topics that are coming up for your club. The aim is to provide clarity, share knowledge, and solve problems that are specific to your club's unique experiences.
