Belfast Youth Climbing Club - Rock Climbing in the Mournes

Date: 27/04/2019
Venue: Mourne Mountains, County Down

On the 27th April and 25th May 2019, Mountaineering Ireland will host a couple of rock climbing days aimed at prospective Belfast Youth Climbing Club members based at a crag in the Mournes - weather permitting.

  • If you're an independent traditional climber, please come along and enjoy a social day's trad climbing with everyone.

  • If you're keen to learn the skills of rock climbing to become an independent traditional climber, please feel free to sign up to the trad climbers improver's workshop, delivered by a qualified mountaineering instructor and funded by Mountaineering Ireland.

  • If you're keen to just try out rock climbing as a family under the guidance of a qualified rock climbing instructor and funded by Mountaineering Ireland, please signup to the Family Rock Climbing Day.

We will aim to meet at a location in the Mournes at 10am and be back at the car park for 5pm.

Spaces are limited and registration for these club rock climbing days is essential, so please register by emailing kevin@mountaineering.ie.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

These events are funded by Mountaineering Ireland through Sport Northern Ireland's Sporting Clubs Programme with the aim of establishing a Belfast Youth Climbing Club.

Children must be aged 7 or older to attend.  Parental supervision and participation at these events is encouraged.

There is no charge for either of the workshops and a limited amount of equipment can be provided on request.

Mountaineering Ireland membership is essential for independent traditional climbers to climb as part of these events.
