Youth Climbing League

The Youth Climbing League is a fun and friendly climbing competition for young climbers. It is an ideal opportunity for those who would like to gain some initial experience of competition climbing.

Introduction

The Youth Climbing League is organised on a provincial basis, with two rounds each taking place in Ulster, Leinster and Munster. The first round of the league features bouldering, the second round features routes.

The Youth Climbing League is an ideal opportunity for young climbers who would like to try competition for a first time. The level of difficulty of the climbs is set to make them achievable by the majority of the competitors. A big effort is made to make the atmosphere as friendly and encouraging and encouraging as possible.

Registration opens (registration remains open until 16:00) 12:00
Climbing starts 12:30
Climbing finishes 16:30
Results announced 17:00

Entry

  • Competition entries are accepted on the day of the competition.
  • There is no online entry.
  • Entry fees are as follows:
Mountaineering Ireland member £10
Non member of Mountaineering Ireland £15

Format

Round 1 - Bouldering 

  • Each competitor will have ten boulder problems to attempt.
  • Each competitor has up to three attempts per boulder problem.
  • Points are awarded for reaching the top hold.
  • Points are awarded on a reducing scale as follows:
