Get Ireland Walking, as part of the Men's Shed Initiative.had its first walking morning for local Men's Sheds at Marley Park, County Dublin.
We were spoiled in having access to the beautiful Georgian house for our event in Marley Park. We started the session with some discussion about walking and its role in our overall wellness, then moved on to tasters sessions using nordic walking poles, and fit walking led by Frank Fahy. We moved back to the house for a debrief and to present the proposed workshops aimed at enabling sheds to increase their walking participation on which we were delighted with the feedback and response received. Lunch was well deserved by all after all the activity and provided a nice opportunity for Men's Shed participants to mingle.
We had a great turnout with 48 Men's Shed participants attending with representation from 15 sheds. We thank all Men's Shed participants who made the effort to come and join us as well as giving some valuable feedback.
Thanks to the Irish Men's Shed Association and DunLaoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership for supporting the day.
