Club Membership 2014/2015 - Administering Renewals and New Members
System Date: 01/09/2014
Mountaineering Ireland's club year runs from 01 November to 31 October annually.
Existing Club Members
From this year* clubs can begin the renewal process online from the 1st of September. An existing member renewed during September or October 2014 will be renewed for the period 01 November 2014 until 31 October 2015.
Please note that there is no requirement for clubs to renew members early. November remains the primary renewal month. This simply facilitates* a more efficient process for many clubs, especially secondary and third level clubs and the many clubs that recruit new members in the autumn.
New Club Members
Clubs can also add new members from 01 September. In this case a new member can benefit from membership for up to 14 months in their first year of membership. Therefore a new member added online during September or October will enjoy membership of Mountaineering Ireland from the 1st of September (or the date after the 1st of September when they pay their fees to the club) until 31st October 2015.
A motion was brought before the Members' Forum at the 2013 Autumn Gathering by Sligo Mountaineering Club whereby they and other clubs had an influx of new people during September. They also suggested that university and other student clubs were faced with the same situation.
In advance of the 2014 Mountaineering Ireland Annual General Meeting (AGM) Sligo Mountaineering Club proposed a motion to address this issue. The motion was discussed and agreed by all at the 2014 Mountaineering Ireland AGM
What do Club administrators see when they login?
From the 1st of September Club administrators (generally Club Secretary / Trasurer) will see their club members as being listed as 'unpaid'. Club administrators should note that their members' status does not change from Mountaineering Ireland's perspective - they remain members for the current Club year (01 November to 31 October).
Big 'Thank You' for all the feedback!
Mountaineering Ireland would like to thank all Club administrators for their support and feedback on the online Membership Management System. Your feedback has helped improve the system significantly. A new suite of simple video tutorials are being progressed and will be published online later in September. These tutorials will guide Club administrators through the system step by step.
