Upland path erosion: tell us where the problems are

As part of the Helping the Hills initiative, Mountaineering Ireland is appealing to walkers and climbers to report path erosion problems on Ireland’s mountains before the end of December 2014.
If you are aware of a badly eroded hill path, or a section of path, please make a simple assessment and submit your findings through the Survey page of The information you provide will help to build up a national picture of the state of Ireland’s upland paths.

You don’t need any special expertise or equipment. To report an erosion problem you’ll need a grid reference for the location, plus two photographs an ‘overview’ to show the problem in the context of the route, and one closer in to show the condition of the path. We’ll also ask you to record the approximate width and depth of the erosion.
