Rural Recreation Officer

Kilkenny LEADER Partnership  (KLP) wishes to recruit a suitably qualified, experienced and motivated person to the key role of Rural Recreation Officer (RRO) operating primarily in County Kilkenny but also in other parts of southeast region.  The successful candidate will work on the development, management and promotion of the county’s rapidly growing set of walking, cycling and themed (craft, food, etc.) routes.

A core element of the RRO’s role is to liaise with landowners and maintenance teams on the upkeep of trails.  The position offers an opportunity to drive the exciting developments already in train- and to lead the ambitious plans of the county’s stakeholders to place it in the forefront of rural recreation tourism in the country.  The role’s essential requirements are:

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work productively with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational, ICT and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated ability for lateral/ creative thinking in resolving project development issues.
  • The capacity to work as part of a broad-based team.
