What Walking Means to Me - Tell your Story!

11 July 2012

The Irish Sports Council (ISC), Mountaineering Ireland and other agencies are developing a new publication titled ‘The Magic of Walking’. The publication is being developed as part of the Get Ireland Walking Initiative and aims to encourage and inspire people of all ages and abilities to begin walking and discover the magic!

Within the publication we would like to include motivational and inspiring stories from people all over the country who really enjoy going for a walk. We would like to hear from those who walk regularly in the local park or beach, on a local forest trail or longer walks in the countryside with family or friends. The ISC would like to invite you to submit a “What Walking Means to Me” story about how you discovered walking, why it’s important to you, how you feel after a good walk, who you walk with and what walking means to you!

If you are interested in sending in your walking story, please send it using the template to Jean Boydell ( in the National Trails Office by the end of August 2012. Please also include your contact details and a photograph or two of yourself or your walking group.

All participants who submit a ‘What Walking Means to Me’ story will receive a Dry Flow T-Shirt.
