Leave No Trace Ireland launched its a new Leave No Trace resource for primary schools yesterday, 30 April 2012. The resource was launched by Phil Hogan, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government at the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh, Co. Wicklow.

All supporters were challenged to promote this programme and the resources within their local primary schools.

The launch was part of a wider event which focused on learning more about how ‘first touch’ messages should be communicated, so as to achieve behavioural change by those who visit the outdoors. It also allowed delegates to learn more about the Leave No Trace message and meet fellow supporters of the organisation. The Annual General Meeting of Leave no Trace Ireland also took place.

Speakers Included:

  • Mary Mulvey (Eco Tourism Ireland); Producing an effective model for 'greening' Irish Tourism
  • Dr. Michael John o Mahony & Anthony Purcell (An Taisce) Problems and solutions for communicating the environmental message in 2012.
  • Carl Atkinson (The Countryside Council for Wales) Towards Responsible Use: Influencing Recreational Behaviour in the Countryside
